Cole loves to give the baby hugs...and I love that too! Here's the skirt I made...yes, MADE! Nice and stretchy for the growing bump :) A good disguise for the bump...

Handmade Holiday Gifts

Yeah, yeah, it's about time I am posting my Handmade Holidays Christmas Gifts. We did the same this year on my side of the family - drawing names in 3 categories: $25 gift, PJ's, and a handmade (crafty) gift. It was all soooo much fun to give and receive. Here's what I came up with this year...
Cole had Tony's (Daddy) name for PJ's, so you guessed it, I followed a tutorial! I made these out of a bed sheet and appliqued #1 Dad using Wonder-Under.
I had Christy's name for crafty (handmade gift) and I couldn't stop making stuff. I took the AWESOME pics that Amber of Bliss & Innocence Photography (http://ambersphotojournal.blogspot.com/) took and turned them into fabric covered art.
I just printed the images to iron-on transfer paper, then transferred them to some cream muslin and stapled it onto some cheap art canvases I found at Hobby Lobby.
They'll look perfect on her fireplace mantel!I also made her some hand and pocket warmers out of one of our Dad's old flannel shirts.
AND I made her a big bow pin - very Anthropoligie if you ask me.
And yes, the same corduroy fabric I LOVE.
Maybe a tutorial of my own soon to come :)This was a gift Christy made for one of her girlfriend's son....how cute is this!
She took some fleece and made this boy's scarf -
and using Wonder-Under of course to applique his initials.
Too cute not to post.I also made my sister and her little guy matching aprons!
How cute is he in his apron!
Using Wonder-Under, again, I did the tie applique to make a very boy apron.
He loves to wear his apron and help his Mommy make stuff :)

More baby shower gifts...

Ok...so I am realizing that I need to start another blog of crafting, because that seems to be all that I post lately....you can thank the winter for that. There is not much to do but craft and shop being that it is so darn cold outside. I was invited to my cousin's baby shower and of course I HAD to make something....and of course the sweat shop was open again because I couldn't stop making stuff! So here they are...

How cute is this flannel print I found!
Guitar Applique Onesie...This little guy is going to have a lot of fun playing his guitar.
Can you tell I LOVE this corduroy fabric I found. I think everything should have a little of this. Tie Applique Onesie and Bib, Burp Cloth, and Booties.

Another Sew-Tastic Crafty Day!

Wow has it been a long time since I've posted! It was a BIG handmade holiday this Christmas - more pics on that later. Before Christmas, we had another Crafty Day. Usually we like to make it a weekend, but with the looming holidays, lots of presents to make, and limited time to get together, we had to do it all in one day...and what fun!

The end result of 15 hours...yes, I said 15 hrs!
A LOT of mittens to keep loved-ones hands warm.
Some chapstick holders.
Mini ice skate ornaments and
lavender sachets made from a vintage tablecloth. We were all very proud of ourselves!
My cousin, Miranda's sewing skills have come a long way...
"No pins Miranda!"My sister, Christy, proceeded to sew night and day to make something like 12 pairs of mittens!
But it wasn't all stress-free...I MIGHT have said some bad words this day - after sewing my 2nd pair of mittens the wrong way...VERY frustrating! It was really getting late at this point...sorry Jeremy :)
Needless to say, we accomplished A LOT and had a great time together too! A special thanks to my Mom for all her patience and hard work with us :)

A sweater refashion...

So I saw this post at: http://mymamamadeit.blogspot.com/2009/11/sweater-capelet-wrap-refashion-tutorial.html. I LOOOOOVE everything she makes in her blog - but thought THIS one could be doable....
Note...the tutorial and the glass of wine :)

Tadaaa! Super cute if I do say so myself.
I was so excited when I was done that I actually asked the husband what he thought - big mistake. His response? "It's a shawl." Ha....what does he know. This is a SHRUG not a shawl! He could not squelch my excitement on this one :)
